RE: A new pedigree giver script? - Tad Carlucci - 12-12-2012 10:00 PM Just write a script which sets the Description to text spoken by the Owner on a Touch event, then make the prims no-mod. RE: A new pedigree giver script? - Malayaa Morningstar - 12-12-2012 11:47 PM I've been struggling with trying to figure out permissions too, and found this interesting bit on http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Permissions_FAQ However I have not tried this LOL _________________________________ Object Contents Examples Permissions can also be set on items which are inside other objects. The permissions on the inside objects are picked up by the outside object. These examples will give you an idea of how they work: Example 1 A couch maker makes a new couch with a script and animation. They don't want the next owner to change the couch. The next owner needs to be able to customize the script, but the creator doesn't want it copied or given away. The animation is a free one, so they have to allow it to be copied. Couch permissions: NO Modify, NO Copy, YES Transfer Script permissions: YES Modify, NO Copy, NO Transfer Animation permissions: YES Modify, YES Copy, YES Transfer The container object, the couch, will take on the permissions in your inventory of all of the inner objects permissions, so it will appear as NO Modify, NO Copy, and NO Transfer until you rez it. RE: A new pedigree giver script? - Tad Carlucci - 12-13-2012 12:17 AM Correct. Also, since the script is MOD, making it NO COPY is meaningless. One simply need cut-n-paste the script to make a copy. Since you made a new copy, you can transfer it. So marking the Script "MOD,NO-COPY,NO-TRANSFER" is identical to setting the script to full permissions. To make it less blurry LOL We are not talking about a script with modify permissions, this is clearly the same as a full perm script, but the object the script is in with no modify permissions. Or at least a request for a pedigreegiver script modification which allows this. RE: A new pedigree giver script? - Stormrunner Laval - 12-13-2012 10:46 AM Even though a script is mod, you should still be able to make the object no mod. Least last I checked which wasn't long ago when I was building a mod for an avatar. Maybe I'm tripping? RE: A new pedigree giver script? - Nenya Eun - 12-13-2012 11:51 AM Now (at least on FS viewer), when a script is set as no copy, one can't see it / copy it anymore. RE: A new pedigree giver script? - Kayleigh McMillan - 12-13-2012 01:37 PM Okay i'm so confussy now. I hope KittyCatS understands the request a bit still
RE: A new pedigree giver script? - Bea Shamrock - 12-13-2012 03:50 PM I think the issue with making the object no mod with the script as it is right now would make it impossible for the next owner to include the ID in the description field of the object. Is that what's happening, Kay or am I confoozled by now too? I think Tad's idea of writing a script which sets the Description to text spoken by the Owner on a Touch event, then making the prims no mod (Post 11 in this thread) seems cool if (a) KC would do so in the script we have access to right now or (b) a second script solely for setting the description would be compatible with the pedigree script we have now. (And I'll stop talking about scripts before I mess it up more >.> ). RE: A new pedigree giver script? - Kayleigh McMillan - 12-13-2012 04:18 PM Yes indeed Bea I think that is the issue. I understand Dev would like to make a pedigreegiver with modify on the object unticked. Therefore the current pedigreescript can not work in an object which is not modifiable as the end user needs to add the ID of the cat or box in the description field of the object. I'm by far not a scripter so I'm affraid making a script like that is not something I can do at least
RE: A new pedigree giver script? - Devilness Chant - 12-13-2012 04:45 PM Ok lol. Here's an example of what I mean. I bought a broom sculpty and used in a few of the halloween displays. Ppl really liked the broom and I thought it would have been a cute stand alone display and pedigree giver that could be used in shops and whatever. For the pedigree script to work in the broom, I would have to set the broom to mod. That would mean that ppl could buy this broom for say 25L and make what they want out of it. They can even take the script out, make it full size and animate it. This undercuts, the sculpter and anyone else that paid for the kit to make this as a full size and sell it. I'm not asking for a complicated script that can do everything, including the dishes and litter box. (though if someone can make one of those that works in rl? )All I want is for the present pedigree script to be updated in whatever way possible to make it usable in no mod objects. |
