Its My Birthday! Gender Boxes
Hi KittyCat Team

Is it possible to make the Breeded Boxes with a SET Gender ?
So the minute Cat gives birth to Box, Gender is set...

And if its a Boy (a blue Box) and for Girl (a pink Box)

Cause its so Angry frustrating when you unpack New Borns,
and you end up with 8 Females versus 2 Male cat.

If gender is set before you unpack, we can choose to sell the box
and not have a kittn we have to feed, or send to menagerie......

Greets John.

RE: Gender Boxes
Hi John,

Gender IS set when the box is dropped, but for reasons we'll understand later
(apparently thanks to a future update), KittyCatS Team does not wish the gender
to be known before boxes are open.

RE: Gender Boxes
Hi John,

In an other heathed and frank thread on this forum on this subject the KittyCatS owners did let us know there will come a solution for this soon.
I have the feeling this is worth waiting for and yes I recognise your frustration Smile

Kay

EDIT

I corrected the link to the correct topic in which KittyCatS told us a future update will make perfectly sense why so far gender on the box isn't povided.

I sure hope they come with a solution soon
maybe even make gender selection in menu (for 1st 7 days)
so before they are able to breed....

cause needed a boy today and cost me 7 boxes to get it
so another 6 unusable female cats Sad

gettn very frustrated about all of this, started breedable pets
for fun , but this isnt very funny nomore.

pls KC team do something about it soon Confused

RE: Gender Boxes
Mathematically, there is no difference between showing the gender when the box is first produced and showing the gender when the box is opened. Psychologically, however, there is a HUGE difference having to do with hope, expectation and delayed disappointment. Not only must one wait to open the box to be disappointed, but one must wait [formerly 30, now only] 15 minutes to be disappointed. For player satisfaction, it would make far more sense to show the gender immediately; and doing so would have no effect upon the game.

But KR says there's something coming which will make the reason for the delay apparent.

I hope whatever it is, it does NOT allow players to select the gender. Allowing players to select the gender of the box, whether free or for a fee, would halve the difficulty. This will result in hastening the decline in prices for new discoveries: players will certainly complain about that. It will result in greater demand for more new phenotypes: the graphics artists won't be happy about having their workload doubled. Charging a fee will not slow that. Instead, it will make the outcry louder since it will disproportionally benefit those with money to the detriment of new players and those without the funds.

Producing a 'gender determination' feature (where you learn the gender, but cannot select or effect it) would eliminate the detrimental effects upon game-play, market prices and staffing requirements.

Charging a fee for gender determination will result in outcry. I'd expect the complaints to be somewhat less because the speed of the game, and the speed at which market prices fall, would be more like what we presently see.

Providing gender determination for free would be identical to showing the gender when the box is produced. In this case, it would be far simpler simply to show the gender.

So, whatever is coming, I hope it does NOT allow players to effect gender, and see no reason for it to not simply show the gender when the box is created.

I think it is reasonable to trust KittyCatS in what they are going to offer, at least I do.
I can honestly say with all their improvements so far they never disappointed me.
Their changes seem to be always clever and well though through.

RE: Gender Boxes
Ok, well like John I have the same problem only I have the curse of boys. It got so bad I had about 30 boys and 13 girls at one time. Half the girls by the way I had to buy, most of the boys I produced from my own cats. It is ridiculous to have a fear of opening boxes I now hoard my boxes instead of having a fun time opening them to see what pops up I get totally freaked out and hoard them in the cattery safe in their little boxes never to be opened. So I ask what is the point? Perhaps it is to generate more sales for food for those of us who see good traits but all in boys, therefore having to go out and buy more girls adding up to more cats than you really want, therefore needing more food etc.

I am not having fun opening boxes anymore, I am not having fun stressing over how much food I need to buy and trying to find a mate for all my millions of boys. Upon opening 10 boxes what are the chances of only 2 being girls? That is just insanity. But that is what I get everytime even when buying. I also bought 3 RFL kitties, opened 2 boxes and what do you know, again both boys. I have a 3rd box now just sitting in my inventory once again, along with my near 30 other boxes. Hopefully something is fixed at least SHOW us if its male or female so we dont have to be afraid to open a box! That is just crazy and I hope the updates will infact include this. I am going crazy. I love my cats and they have become my favorite breedable but please...do something! O.o

RE: Gender Boxes
Well nowadays i only open a box if i can see it has really good trait potential and i have a good alternative breeding plan for it in case of wrong sex.
