RE: Abyssinian - Salt & Pepper
To my surprise, this proof tells me that Abby S&P maybe dominate to Burmese Flame. This Burmese Flame is super solid too.

Will see what happens in 7 days.

RE: Abyssinian - Salt & Pepper
Thats not a huge surprise to me, my 2 breeds of my starter with an Ocicat Chocolate have both produced Aby S&P suggesting its dominant to Oci Choc which is the fur above Burmese Flame. The first offspring is due to breed next Saturday so if he passes Oci Choc we will both know Smile

Okay last round for my starter is with a Bengal Snow. Bengal Snow appears to be the most recessive in her line as well. Will see what happens soon.

Hello! It's that annoying Reven again.

Don't forget to pull the hidden, unless you can prove purity through the Burmese's pedigree.

She has so many recessive traits that it is quite likely that a recessive fur can be hidden even if you can't see it as far back as you can trace the line.
I like your reasoning here.
You assume (with good reason) that Aby SP is dominant to Burmese Flame, and choose a fur that will cut the range above Burmese Flame in half. This is efficient dominance testing in practise.

Way to go!

RE: Abyssinian - Salt & Pepper
According to Fabhina, the Lush tail from the Burmese Flame line was derived from an Aussie Mist Marble that's way back in the pedigree, and the fur has never popped out. So I'm confident that the Abby should be dom to Burmese Flame.

Here is the Burmese Flame pedigree. Fab always does strong solid lines.

RE: Abyssinian - Salt & Pepper
Fabbinha is indeed a brilliant breeder, and I agree that we have reason to believe that the Aby S&P is dominant to Burmese Flame.

It's just that it isn't proven until we have pulled Burmese Flame from behind the Aby S&P.

RE: Abyssinian - Salt & Pepper
Abyssinian - Salt and Pepper is dominant to Ocicat - Chocolate

Zucchini hides Abyssinian - Salt & Pepper
she bred with Snickers an Ocicat - Chocolate and they had Rasin, an Abyssinian - Salt & Pepper
Rasin bred with Baylie a Tonkinese - Blue Mink, a fur known to be recessive to the other 2, they had an Ocicat - Chocolate.
Since Ocicat - Chocolate is known to be dominant to Tonkinese - Blue Mink it must therefore be Rasins hid and recessive to Abyssinian - Salt & pepper.

RE: Abyssinian - Salt & Pepper
Since Rasin revealed his hid I decided to retask his Mum Zucchini with a British - Shorthair Cream & White.
She kindly obliged and passed her Abyssinian - Salt & Pepper under the British Shorthair - Cream & White meaning Abyssininan - Salt and Pepper is recessive to British Shorthair - Cream & White.
And just like that we are down to a range of 4 furs Smile
The proof Zucchini hides the Salt & Pepper is in the previous post in her offspring Rasin.

RE: Abyssinian - Salt & Pepper
Abyssinian - Salt & Pepper is recessive to Snowshoe - Red.

I bred my Starter that hides the Abyssinian - Salt & Pepper to a Snowshoe - Red and the resulting offspring shows Snowshoe - Red so therefore hides the Abyssininan - Salt & Pepper from the starter

2 Furs left to go Smile
