RE: soul sparkle dom to?
Short answer, right now, soul sparkle is known to be dominant to Tapestry Allure, and so yes, it is also dominant to crystal berry and strawberry bellini.

There are several places to check the answer for that kind of question.
1) Most people check the Saga Charts. SAGA Eye chart
Nothing is posted in SAGA without proofs that have been through several layers of vetting. New traits for which there is a large range (such as soul sparkle) are listed at the very bottom of the chart.

2) There is a more recent option called KittyCats Proofs. The aim here is to get information fast from the forum and up and online quickly. The proofs are here on the forum, so you can vet them and others can vet them for yourselves. KittyCatsProofs Eyes

3) Check out the thread in the breeding section of this forum which is dedicated to your trait. Index of Traits. That will give you the run down on all the testing being done (that has been reported) for your trait of interest.

If you need help reading the dominance charts, let me - or really any of many helpful breeders on this forum and at Saga - know. We are happy to help.

RE: soul sparkle dom to?
Soul Sparkle is currently known to be Dominant to at least Tap Allure.

If you breed a cat with Soul Sparkle eye showing to a cat with a more recessive eye (from further down the Dominance charts), you should have at least a 50% chance of getting Soul Sparkle back as a shown eye on the kitten. There is always a 50% chance the Soul Sparkle-eyed cat will pass their hidden eye color instead... and in many cases that hidden will be something other than Soul Sparkle.

*Was typing at the same time as Ivy, smiles. She's given you the links to the various charts for keeping track of traits and relative Dominance. Wink

RE: soul sparkle dom to?
Hi KittyClawz,
what Ivy and Happy said is correct.

You said you were going to breed two Odyssey Bellini cats together? If you breed two Odyssey Bellini cat together, you will NOT get Soul Sparkle back even if you see it in their pedigrees. Whatever eye shows on a cat, any eye in the cat's history that was dominant to the shown eye will be lost. The only way to get it back is to breed the shown lost eye with the recesive eye. For example breeding Soul Sparkle shown cat with Ody Bell shown cat is 50% chance of Soul Sparkle like Hap said. 2 Ody Bell cats is 0% no matter the history even if you see Soul Sparkles on all the grandparents. Most dominant always shows. Hope that helps.

Perhaps I misunderstood. I thought Kittyclaws was asking about breeding the Soul Sparkle to an Ody Bell, cats with those two eye colors showing, together.

Kayla is correct about what would happen when breeding two Ody Bell-eyed cats to each another -- a recessive eye color can never hide a more Dominant eye color behind it.

A good way to determine what you could possibly get from a breeding, even when you know nothing about the parents other than their shown traits, is to look at the Dominance chart. Start at the top, and go down the chart until you find the first shown eye color of either cat from the pair. Draw a line above that color. Your chance of getting any eye color which falls above that line is then 0%. Your chance of getting that, more Dominant shown eye color is 50% (unless both cats have the same shown eye color, in which case you improve your odds to 75%).

my cat is showing soul sparkle and mother has soul sparkle also was wondering what eye to breed with either obell eye, strawberry bell or crystal berry

RE: soul sparkle dom to?
Since all of the eyes that you mention are recessive to soul sparkle, each of them would behave in the same way and your percentage chances are the same for all. Choose the mate for your cat based on which of those pink eyes you really prefer, or some other trait on the cats that you would like to work into the mix, like tail or whiskers.
Yes, soul sparkle, being dominant would have a greater chance of showing on the kittens. I do not know what eye your soul sparkle cat hides... if it is Also dominant to crystal berry, strawberry bellini or ody bellini, then you will have kittens showing soul sparkle or the hidden eye. If you post the pedigree of your soul sparkle cat, we could give a guess at likely outcomes.

RE: soul sparkle dom to?
The way it works is each cat has a chance of throwing the shown or hid. So you can divide your chances into quarters

For example
your cat has Sparkle Dream shown from mom and Ody Bell or more recessive hid from Dad. Let's assume the hid is Ody Bell to make life simpler and that your cat is female.
Lets use alphabet letters (I like algebra so left over from that)
Your girl cat is aA
a=shown (Sparkle Dream)
A=hid (Ody Bell)

Partner
Assuming your partner is Crystal Bell showing and Dry Olive hid (don't have your partner's stats so just putting it in there-- chose Dry Olive since it is recessive to both Sparkle Dream and Ody Bell so you can see what happens)
your boy cat is bB
b = shown (Crystal Berry)
B = hid (Dry Olive)

Your only possible combinations are
ab, aB, Ab, AB
Then you plug in your values (what your cats hide and show) and dominant is always on top
ab = Sparkle Dream, Crystal Berry = Sparkle Dream shows, Crystal Berry hides
aB = Sparkle Dream, Dry Olive = Sparkle Dream shows, Dry Olive hides
Ab = Ody Bell, Crystal Berry = Crystal Berry shows, Ody Bell hides
AB = Ody Bell, Dry Olive = Ody Bell shows, Dry Olive Hides

So you see that is why we say with Crystal Berry, Strawberry Bell or Ody Bell, you have a 50% of Sparkle Dream showing because the shown is thrown 50% of the time and hid is thrown 50% of the time. What shows depends on what the other cat has because most dominant is always on top.

hope that helps
