RE: Malachite eyes! Post your evidence here!
I have proof that Key lime is dominant to Malachite

Elmer hides malachite:

he gives back flame with flame so I paired him with an extra choc tipped I have that shows key lime and the offspring has key lime (and silver whiskers grr) so the only thing this baby can hide is Elmer's malachite:

Yay, thank you Peaches!

Saga's charts say
Malachite is dominant to Crystal Spring, Crystal Dream, and Frost and recessive to Oceania

Oceania (Retired) *
Odyssey Splash (Retired)
Key Lime *
CRYSTAL EYES!! (order among them still required:
Crystal Sea > Crystal Dream > Crystal Clear,
Crystal Sun > Crystal Clear,
Crystal Spring ? (All Ltd.Ed.)

Malachite is recessive to Key Lime
which means to be placed it needs to be tested against Crystal Sea and Crystal Sun

So almost placed.

Hi Kayla!
Since my proof shows malachite recessive to key lime, would it not be automatically also recessive to the ody splash? or are those eyes not definitely placed yet? I am trying to understand how these proofs work so i can help with others. thank you!

which put's it in there -- your proof eliminated all the Crystal eyes.

Malachite only needs to be tested against Odyssey Splash to be placed!

You're right, I flipped it again -- I'll correct that entry

For those who don't know, once in a while I flip dom/rec and look at them upside down --- and yes, I also flip right and left

(for anyone who looks later, that entry was corrected)

I"ll also do a copy and paste and correct the entry on the list too!

darn it!

RE: Malachite eyes! Post your evidence here!
My Chrystal Sea/ Malachite pair returned Malachite!

Mum's pedigree is chock full of Chrystal sea, so I hope this breeding line will place Malachite.
I'll open the box and move her to the project space to confirm her hidden eye.

This pedigree does not prove anything, but is posted as an update on the placement project for Malachite eyes.
Malacite will be placed IF, and only if, the kitten hides Chrystal Sea.

(Edited to clarify that this is an update only)

RE: Malachite eyes! Post your evidence here!
'chocked full' really is little more than an indication. it may be a strong indication, but its not proof.

based on this, all we can say is either Malachite is dominant to Crystal Sea, or it is dominant to something recessive to Crystal Sea.

Tad, Reven never said she was posting a proof. She was displaying the cat she was setting up to breed.
I think the situation reflects a growing trend to post pedigrees on the forum that aren't proofs. They are popping up in a lot of threads. Why is this happening? Well, for one, people like to show off their cats with motherly/fatherly pride, but also I think it's because people (mainly serious breeders who know when a proof is a proof) are trying to cooperate with the rest of the community to divide the work of getting the charts up to date. I know there have been at least two instances this spring where I opened kittens for testing and then someone else got the proof faster, or the dominance had already been proved but wasn't up on the charts yet.

It does seem like the Saga people are starting to demand 2 proofs for everything; so the effort isn't wasted, but it also means that there is a lag before the charts are updated and people are depending more and more on the forum threads for the quickest information. I do find it a bit confusing to see a pedigree and then say, "oh, that's not a proof - its a display" and perhaps it may confuse newer breeders (and we seem to have gotten some on the forum with the new SLB13 cats) as to what constitutes a proof.
Perhaps clearer labeling? Reven was clear in her description. Some people aren't. And some people may not realize if they have proof or not.
