RE: ♂ New Born Kitten
I love those Foxie ears!
This is a good breeding lesson, too. Each cat has two sets of traits - what you see on the cat, and what's "hiding"
When mom and dad cat are both at ♥♥100 love, they give either their shown traits or their hidden traits to the kitten. It's like a coin toss. And then the kitten will show the trait that's dominant and hide the trait that's recessive.
What you see on your kitten will always be the dominant to what's hiding. Members of the community have maintained an unofficial dominance chart for a really long time. (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10-9WtItK0LWyUSZqnI_6sGngJXtgVsSaSYJd2GN3qqw/)
This handsome little boy probably got his Russian Black fur from his dad. Dad is a Bengal Tawny. Russian Black is recessive to Bengal Tawny, so Dali probably hides Russian Black. Which was passed down from grandpa Sejnet.
That means your kitten now shows Russian Black and hides whatever fur mom Gala passed to him. She can't have passed Genesis Mocha II, because it's dominant to Russian Black. She can't pass Genesis Pearl, because it's also dominant to Russian Black.
So I would guess that mom's mom, Greta, hides and passed either Russian Black, or a fur that is recessive to Russian Black.
If you keep breeding Gala and Dali together, your kittens will be Genesis Mocha II's or Bengal Tawnys or Russian Blacks. Gala's hidden fur is recessive to all of those, so it won't ever show on kittens from Gala and Dali. Which is great if you want more Russian Black kitties! Or Bengal Tawnys! Or Mocha II's!
