Can someone please give a clear answer on this, how many generations must you have breed eg can i buy a pair and get a kitten and that be classed as self bred or must i have bred the parents as well? for the kitty to register does it need to be unpacked or will a box still count ? can a box i have bred prior to the month qualify or does it need to be bred during the month ?Cheers

The box is good enough.
The ONLY requirements are the traits EXACTLY match those in the Kitty-of-the-month posting. Yes, it's possible to get the box from a pair of starters (although, usually, VERY unlikely), no additional generations, or anything else, is needed .. just produce the box, however you can.

Just adding to Tad's answer : the cat has to be bred during the month, otherwise it won't qualify.

I successfully was the only breeder of a perfect kitty of the month once.
Two days after the expiration date!!!
Instead of winning a free jewel,
I got a big boatload of SQUAT!
